CONNECTICUT PLEIN AIR PAINTERS SOCIETY 2007 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP EXHIBITION AND SALE

November 9 2007 - January 5, 2008

The Annual Membership Exhibition of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society opens Friday, November 9, at Hartford Fine Art, 80 Pitkin Street, East Hartford, CT.  Over 100 paintings will be displayed for sale in this show that runs through January 5, 2008.  The public is invited to the Opening Reception on November 9 from 6 to 8 pm.

The Society was founded in 1995 by Jane Zisk and inspired by the tradition of plein air painting established by Connecticut Impressionist painters such as Childe Hassam, J. Alden Weir, and Willard Metcalf.  "Plein air painting challenges the artist to capture on canvas the stunning effects of light by painting on location directly from nature," says Katherine Simmons, President of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society.

The Exhibition Juror is Christopher Magadini, a nationally recognized plein air painter whose work is exhibited and collected world-wide. According to Magadini, "Painting is not simply the replication of what the eye sees.  It is the creation of an image that embodies thoughts and feelings that connect with the viewer".

During the exhibition, there will be a plein air panel discussion and artist demonstrations.  The public is invited to these free events at Hartford Fine Art, 80 Pitkin Street, East Hartford.
